Square Bowl, Blue Fabric of Flames

Square bowl (11 x 11 cm; 6 cm depth) made with majolica ceramics and transparent enamel. It mimics the design of “fabric of flames” in blue. The shape and drawing of the plate are the artist’s hand-made own creation; therefore, they can vary. It is both a utilitarian and ornamental item.

The “fabric of flames” is made using the ikat technique, which is carried out on the thread before weaving. Mallorca is the one place in Spain were this technique takes place and is still present today. The drawings of these fabrics are used in contemporary art.
