Rectangular basin (15 x 12 cm) made with majolica ceramics and transparent enamel. It mimics the design of “fabric of flames” (tela de lenguas) painted in red. It is both a utilitarian and ornamental item. As it is hand-painted, the drawing may vary slightly.
The “fabric of flames” is made using the ikat technique, which is carried out on the thread before weaving. Mallorca is the one place in Spain were this technique takes place and is still present today. The drawings of these fabrics are used in contemporary art.
